Thoughts on Modern Feminism

💘 Modern feminism has created more problems than good for women: These days, most women can't focus on their family and children, istead, they have to "drop their kids off" (a very telling expression) at various institutions. This dynamic has been driven by capitalism and a drive for economic growth, not by "caring about women's rights": The more there are people that work, the greater the economic growth, consumption rate etc.
As far as capitalism and the modern "unlimited growth on a limited planet" mentality (the mentality of a cancer cell) is concerned, a non-working woman is a deadweight. So they encourage women to work alongside with men covering this up with slogans such as "empowerment", "liberation" and "women's rights". Meanwhile the future generation, the children, can be conditioned and brainwashed since the earliest age by teachers and supervisors of the state into what the state wants the future generation to be like!

Derogatory Stereotypes about Russian Women should not be acceptable

Promotion of derogatory stereotypes about Russian women (or women of any other nation) should not be seen as funny or acceptable!

Honestly? This is DISGUSTING! 😡 Apart from the obvious fact that the slogan on this T-shirt implies that women of a certain nation are difficult, bad, unpleasant, etc., which is, in itself, racist and sexist, when it comes to Russian (and other post-Soviet) women in particular, to be accurate, this slogan should, instead, look something like "I am a husband of a Russian woman, therefore, I am a spoiled and entitled dude with the mentality of a slave-owner!"
From their earliest teenage years, Russian women (as well as women in other post-Soviet countries like Belarus and the Ukraine), are conditioned and pressured by their society of origin into being the catering, self-sacrificing, servants of men.
These women have grown up in the atmosphere that, in the most men-favouring and women-enslaving way possible, mixes exploitative "equality" with twisted "traditionalism": As tribute to "equality", these women are expected to have demanding, professional careers, with which they should fully provide for themselves. Indeed, Russian women often end up working in more complex, demanding, and higher-paying jobs than do their male counterparts: More women than men in Russia are doctors; there are many female engineers and computer programmers, and the Western colleagues have always been surprised at just how many female scientists there are in Russia! But at the same time, despite their actual independence and self-sufficiency, Russian women are also subjected to the twisted, contrived oppressive "traditionalism": This means that in addition to working long hours in demanding careers, these women are also expected-- fully and single-handedly and without any (or with little) help from their male partner,--to take care of all the housework and childcare responsibilities: to cook, wash, clean, educate and entertain their children, to solve the issues that arise at their child's school or kindergarten, etc. And that's not all. Another "traditional" responsibility on top of everything else that is expected of women in these societies is to always look attractive in the process! Staying skinny, always wearing perfect makeup, strutting in a mini skirt and in six-inch stiletto heels even on black ice in wintertime, all just to please a man, who is, for no real reason or merit, viewed as the sole meaning of a woman's life!
Do you think life can't get any worse for a woman by this point?
There is still some room:
Because there is this artificial, fabricated "traditionalism" taking place in these post-Soviet societies, a man is supposed to be made to feel superior in every way as compared to a woman; something that, given all that we now know, he, frankly, simply is not. So, by now, it should not come as any surprise, that it constitutes a woman's additional responsibility to artificially create this sense of superiority in a man at the expense of a woman's own self-worth: Around a man, a woman is expected to act silly and incompetent,  making sure that a man thinks that all the smart decisions and solutions are always his, and not hers (this is literally a common advice for women in Russian society "Make all the right, intelligent decisions yourself but make a man believe that these decisions has been his idea). So, despite what the reality may be, a "real woman" should make her man feel great, strong, knowledgeable, and simply a genius as compared to his woman! (Yes, even if she is a doctor and he is a garbage truck driver!)
Why would a woman even want to enslave herself through marriage in such a society?
Because the goal of a woman's life is believed to be a man, or , more specifically, a marriage to a man. Without it, a woman is often seen as incomplete and defective, she is (direct quote) an "incomplete person of lower quality", regardless of all the success and impressive achievements that she may have in other all areas of her life, such as in her career. Without this pressure on a woman to marry or else forever be seen as defective, the pervasive psychological pressure that is extreme in Russian and other post-soviet societies, no woman (and no human being in general) would probably subject themselves to such a voluntary enslavement.
So, having been psychologically coerced by society, these women are led to jump through hoops just to please men in the hopes of getting married to one.
And now, going back to this self-important-looking guy and the slogan on the T-shirts that he is trying to push: Being married to such over-accommodating women who, unfortunately, have been brainwashed to be of the opinion that they, as women, must be all and do all for a man, while all he should do in turn, is just, well, exist, being married to such an over-accommodating woman must be a real ordeal!
And let's face it: Most western men who are purposely looking specifically for Russian women, on some level, expect exactly that: a voiceless (non-feminist!), supermodel-looking servant for all their needs! A woman who is clueless in the new environment and language, and so is utterly dependant upon her Western master; who doesn't know her rights and has no one to turn to and nowhere to go no matter what her Western master does. A woman who can be sexually objectified and insulted and who won't even know that what is happening is supposed to be humiliating! Who has been so psychologically oppressed that unlike her Western counterpart, she won't know and recognize abuse when it stares her in the face.
So that these men, who ordered themselves such an obedient wife-servant from abroad can then pose with these T-shirts looking tough while the said Russian woman is crawling on her knees and washing and rubbing the floor under their feet!

P.S. Speaking about being unaware and, as a result, not recognizing subtle put-downs and insults: This very picture above, which proved me to write such a long essay above was actually proudly shared by a Russian woman who thought that the phrase "I'm married to a Russian woman. Noting scares me!" implied that being married to a Russian woman is such a positive and uplifting experience that it inspires bravery and fearlessness in men; obviously though, to any English-speaker, this kind of construction means the exact opposite: Marriage to a Russian woman is supposedly such a challenge that nothing can scare a man after such an ordeal anymore. This phrase is used in many situations and always has this meaning, implying great difficulty, a challenge "I have three children, so nothing scares me!" "I have two boys so nothing scares me!" (Tough in these cases its use is at least justifiable, as opposed to when it is directed at over-accommodating, self-sacrificing Russian women)

Trillium Plant. Nature of Ontario.

🇨🇦 (🇷🇺👇 ) Trillium. The symbol of Ontario. While the stylized trillium symbol is everywhere in Ontario, I don't think I ever came across the actual trillium plant, or, possibly, never noticed it before. And yes, I added the sylized symbol of Ontario to my photos to illustrate.

Healthy Body Image Mannequins are Non-Existent.

‼️🧐👉🏼So where is the representation of that "healthy body image" we are supposed to aspire to? At present, alongside the unrealistic anorexic mannequins, there are mannequins of overweight people. So side by side there are now two pathologies: anorexia and obesity; but where are those healthy body weight figures which they keep talking about when promoting health and a healthy body image?
Same with modelling: In addition to "standard" anorexic models, there is now a growing market for plus size models, but if a girl or a woman falls into the healthy middle ground between anorexia and overweightness, no one wants her, there just isn't a market, she either has to gain weight or lose weight to be in demand as a model. (--a model of what, then? -- definitely not health, either way!)

Ottawa Walking. Daily Walking for Health and Happiness

Daily Walking for Health and Happiness

Walked 12 kilometers (7 miles) yesterday. Never felt better in many months after such a walk. This (but probably in slightly smaller doses) should be done regularly! And there is nothing wrong with walking outside alone or with close family members during quarantine by the way! It is the public spaces including public transport that should be avoided. Walking and running outside is okay. It's even much better than okay: It is good for your emotional health, physical health and immunity. There's no better exercise than walking!

RIP Alfred, Arthur and little William...

Some tragic events happened recently in my rat family. Alfred, Arthur, and little William (who only lived one day with us) ALL DIED. First, Alfred developed (yet again) breathing problems. In the past, these were easily treated with antibiotics, but this time that didn't help (though I had a couple of different antibiotics available for such cases) and within just two days his breathing worsened dramatically and he did not even live to his doctor's appointment which was scheduled the next day after he died (not that it would help, as Alfred most likely had some kind of cysts in his lungs, as he was sneezing with blood). That was still very unexpected, as Alfred was relatively young, just over a year old (around 45-50 in human years).
Then, within days (or a week) my hairless rat Arthur died. Arthur, at least, had a long, happy life. In fact, he was almost a centenarian, two years and five months old. Still, it was very sad because for this exact same reason that he was so old, Arthur has spent the most time with us: I raised him all the way from the little tiny quivering cockroach and into the oldest rat I've ever had. He was probably the most active, agile rat too, and what with his wrinkly bare body and long tail, he looked like a little devil! Or a wrinkly goblin! But the last couple of days he was extremely weak, emaciated and disoriented, so his death was a relief to him.
Next, comes a really dreadful story: The death of his two companions left a year-old Kazimir completely alone. First, we acquired Alexandre, a rat-teen (a rat of about a month and a half) to keep him company. (I will introduce Alex here later). The introduction of Alexandre to Kazimir went exceedingly well; in fact, it turned into Alexandre immediatly taking up residence in Kazimir's cage. (Usually, somewhat gradual introductions first on a neutral territory are recommended.) Actually, Kazimir has always been so friendly and peaceful that it was no surprise. So then, to have three rats instead of two, little William was acquired. He was a rat-child. Not a baby though. (I know that introducing actual babies to adult rats is a bad idea.) William was about seven years old in rat years. He was adorable, black and white -- white body, black head and a cute white spot around one eye. We put him in a cage with Kazimir and Alexandre to see how that would go.
At first, everything was perfectly well. Kazimir was his usual friendly self, though annoyingly nosy (literally) with little William. But that is the usual behavior with the new rat. Everything was okay. But then, as we lowered our guard and the three were left alone, there was a scream, and... it turned out that Kazimir cornered little William in a box which was part of the cage, and crushed him with his teeth. It was so fast there was not time to do anything. He killed William.
William will never grow up, no one will ever discover his unique ratty personality; he only had a chance to live a few weeks. I don't have a single photo in his memory. I blame myself so much for what happened. And in this way I also lost the kind, fat Kazimir that I used to know.
We then got another rat, Richard (will introduce him later too), and just like in the case with his very first new companion Alexandre, Kazimir had no problem with him whatsoever. Both Alexandre and Richard are older than was William though, they are both about the same age, and were in fact the only rat "friends" at a pet-store, sitting in the same container; but I, against my better judgement, only picked Alexandre initially, leaving Richard alone at a pet store, and when I came the second time for a second companion for Kazimir, I instead saw and bought the "new arrival" --little William-- and only after he died, did I go back and get Richard, who, like Alexandre was older.
So now, after all these tragic events the new "rat configuration" is Kazimir, Alexandre and Richard...
I was really physically sick for a while after all these traumatizing events happening one after another in a row and I'm only now starting to overcome all the shock and sadness and am able to actually post about all this here...

On Spiritual Charlatans

On spiritual charlatans and Quacks.
I keep seeing re-posts of online articles (usually
coming from "spirituality"-oriented sources) saying that "traditional" education was designed to turn people into slaves; and is little wonder that it is precisely those "spiritual" gurus who so fervently condemn the education sustem and especially the hard sciences like chemistry, biology and physics (which they claim take away people's creativity). Think about it: If people get educated in hard sciences, and if they value their knowledge and education, who among them will be ignorant enough to believe in the"spiritual" mumbo-jumbo about chakras and "energies" of those self-appointed "*experts* and *masters*? Who will be duped into paying for the useless products and services of those charlatans?! Education --especially "convergent", scientific education of the public-- is enemy number one for those con-artists who want to continue (successfully) pushing their quackery onto people and to get them to pay for it. The general public needs to stay really ignorant and uneducated for those quacks to continue to make their money! Not to mention the fact (which I'm going to mention anyway) that the self-proclaimed statuses such as "expert in energy healing", or "spiritual teacher", or "light work professional", or "reiki master", or "guru" of those charlatans will never be recognized by any sensible scientific or professional community. So all that's left to do for these self-appointed "experts", "masters" "teachers" and "professionals" in fakery is bash and berate the actual, legitimate, verifiable science and the education system that will rightly and justly never recognize them.
And did the education system throughout history turn people into slaves, or did it actually do the opposite, giving people a chance to liberate themselves from slavery and change their sort in life?
In the past, it was actually the RICHEST families, the ruling class who had exclusive access to education, and the overwhelming mass of people who were poor had no hope to be educated, even to learn to read and write, and so no opportunity to change their sort and to advance in society in any way.
Moreover, they had to rely on the rich and the educated to interpret to them what the Bible and other documents supposed to govern the daily life in these times said. For example, the Bible was purposely kept in Latin to only allow the "chosen" equivalents of modern-day gurus (i.e. catholic priests) to be able to read it; and yes, those former-day "gurus"-priests also hated science with passion: they abolished and burned scientific books and sometimes scientists themselves.
Giving people access to education, the ability to write and especially read all these important texts for themselves and make their own conclusions, without constantly relying on the interpretations of these texts by the elite was a huge step toward equality and fairness!
Not to mention that mathematics and other mathematics-based hard sciences develop logical thinking; studying such disciplines develops the pre-frontal cortex as well as self-control. Science is the modern day equivalent of literacy, the opportunity for everyone to know how the world works, in a proven, verifiable way. The opportunity that those spiritual "gurus" attempt to discourage people from taking!
And speaking of divergent thinking in particular, most artists and writers that we admire to this day actually came from the rich and middle, educated classes!
Because of education what's called the Flynn effect occurs: With every generation, as more and more people get access to education, learn new information, exercise their logical abilities, each successive generation gets higher scores on the IQ test. People as a society get smarter.
If that was not the case, and education was the evil invention that turned people into unthinking slaves, then the poorest people of the world still "unharmed" by the education and whose beliefs and explanations for everything are all based on the spiritual fairytales still, would be the smartest, most developed geniuses who know everything of the world they live in. It is obviously not true, seeing all the barbaric practices that happen in societies in places of the world still largely "unharmed by education": bodily mutilations including sex organ mutilations of females, gang rape of family members as punishment for unpaid dept, unquestioned authority of "sorceres", whose decision is unquestionable law in any conflict between villagers in a number of places around the world, and who, in case of such conflict, can name anyone as a perpetrator who used witchcraft to harm others. Becoming the western-world equivalent of such "sorcerers", a "spiritual master" with unquestionable authority, and degrading the society to the point where that society, out of ignorance, would accept it, is the dream of many of those modern-day gurus.
Yes, life is definitely awesome without education and everyone is a genius in a society where everyone is too ignorant know otherwise!

This Year 2020 is Year of the White, Metal Rat

The photoshoot for my pet rats on New Year 2020, the Year of the White, Metal Rat!
According to Chinese Calendar -- which, I know, not too many people are familiar with in Canada, but which we widely acknowledge in Russia-- this new year 2020 is the Year of the Rat 🐀 . (The year of the White, Metal Rat to be precise! 🐁)
The year of the Rat begins the new 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle.
According to one myth, the Jade Emperor (the Emperor of Heaven) said that the twelve animals who would arrive to his party the earliest would be representatives of the twelve years of the zodiac cycle. On that day, the Rat got up very early and rushed to the gathering site. On the way, he encountered the Ox that ran much faster. In order not to fall behind, the Rat thought up a good plan. He made the gullible Ox carry him on condition that he sang for the Ox. And so, the Ox and Rat arrived first. The Ox was happy, thinking that he would be the first sign of the 12, but then, just as they arrived at the finish line, the Rat jumped down and landed ahead of the Ox, becoming the first animal to arrive to the party, and so, the first of the 12 zodiac animals.
Consequently, the order of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac cycle is as follows: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.
🎄🐀So, at least in Russia and in China, the Rat and its artfulness and intelligence is widely celebrated this year!!
🐀🎄Below are photos of my Arthur, the oldest of my pet rats. I am glad he has lived to become the host of this year; he is 2 years and 3 months old, which would be over seventy years old for a human. Photos of my other two rats, Alfred Jr. and Kazimir will follow!
Happy New Year!🎄
P.S. The real Chinese New Year does not begin until January 25th this year; however, in Russia, while we acknowledge and celebrate the Chinese succession of the 12 zodiac animals, the year of each of these Chinese zodiac animals begins on January 1st for us!

21 December, The Winter Solstice and the real New Year!

🌞🇨🇦 Today, the 21st of December is actually the real New Year's Day! A.k.a Yule, the Pagan New Year! It is Winter Solstice today-- the shortest day and the longest night of the year! After today the daylight length will actually start increasing and the cycle will start all over again; that's why it actually is the real, astronomical, natural new year! So Happy New Year, Happy New Seasinal Cycle!🎄

weird gifts

Received this as part of a yearly gift from the property managment company. Anybody has any idea as to what the purpose of these two is? Especially the hollow rubber hose on the bottom...🤨 As for the top thing (a gel ice pack?), I only saw it in some ASMR videos, but what is it really for? I swear with each year the gifts are getting weirder and weirder... 🤔

Nature's Truth about Fall 🍁🍐🍎🦔🐿🍂

🍁🍂🐿🦔🍎🍐Who said that fall is a quiet, melancholy season?! I.e. the #coffeeandbook type of thing? It's a season of frantic natural activity, when plants produce their fruits and seeds, and animals frantically take advantage of the last warm days before snowfall to stock up for winter. For all of our ancestors and those of us still living in sync with nature it is also a very busy season of harvesting. Only the modern human who distanced him- and herself from nature completely could have turned the meaning of this season on its head and associate it with melancholy and idleness!

Canada and its merciless and unapologetic exploitation of animals.

🍁🇨🇦 Canada and Its Merciless and Unapologetic Exploitation of Animals 🇨🇦🍁
🐻 First of all: This long essay is completely my own work (and a long one at that ), because I am so passionate about ending animal suffering.
Please share this message so as to raise people's awareness of this issue, because I know from my own experience, that sometimes it simply doesn't occur to a person to ponder certain issues, until a video, a message, a documentary on that topic catches their attention. (I am, personally, the perfect example of this, a person who used to eat lots of meat, eggs, the idea of how all that is actually produced never occurring to me, until one day, we, as a class, were shown a documentary Food.inc. From that point onwards, I never looked at many "regular", "normal" "everyday" things like chunks of meat on a store shelf in the same way again, and the slow process of change, which resulted in me eventually becoming a vegetarian began! )

However, this post of mine is not mainly about factory farming, or domesticated animals, in general, in fact, it all starts with the beaver!

First, this has to be mentioned: Putting a living, cute beaver as a national symbol is an atrocious act of hypocrisy . In reality, it's millions of beaver pelts and the remaining mass of bleeding skinned beaver carcasses that is the symbol of the true, real Canadian relationship with the beaver. But of course, that kind of symbol wouldn't sell well as a souvenir. So, for the money-making purposes, an illusion of a living beaver whose cuteness and cuteness alone, won it the title of the national Canadian symbol was created. (Not the fact that this cute beaver was mercilessly killed en masse despite all its cuteness!)
But surely, nowadays every Canadian is encouraged to feel pained and sorry about the horrendous exploitation of Canadian wildlife that once took place?!
If you naively think so, you are wrong.
I just watched the new 2017 Canadian History documentary "Canada: The Story of Us", and surely, as expected, it talked a lot about discrimination and unfair treatment of some groups of PEOPLE (i.e. early European settlers) towards other groups of PEOPLE (members of Indigenous populations). But besides that, a big part of this documentary was dedicated to telling of beaver hunting.
What was shocking though, was that unlike the negative portrayal of the exploitation of the Native PEOPLE by Western-European PEOPLE, when it came to animals and their exploitation, the lens through which this issue was viewed was shockingly neutral and at times even positive!! The massive killings of beaver (to which a big part of the beginning of the documentary was dedicated) for example, were presented as a great, lucky thing for the development of the country, as lots and lots of money was made off the death of this animal when massive amounts of beaver pelts were shipped back to Europe where they became all the rage (especially as material for hats in France).
It was then briefly mentioned that the hunting (i.e. mass murder of the innocent creature) became so severe that the beaver populations in the southern areas of Canada became nearly extinct, but this fact that risked making any normal person uncomfortable, was then promptly mollified as it was quickly pointed out that the near-extinction (which is a euphemism in itself) of beavers in southern areas was actually kind of a good thing, as then the hunters were forced to go north where (hooray!) there was not only more beaver, but their pelts were thicker and of better quality, thus having the potential to bring EVEN MORE money to beaver-murderers!
Similarly atrocious facts (and in a similarly neutral tone) were then introduced with regards to other species of Canadian wild animals, and surely, nowhere and not once was the word "exploitation of wildlife" (or even the word "kill") mentioned, or any other fitting definition of what was going on, no, everything was viewed as just a normal occurrence and a thing to do.
Baby bison to be killed
You may say: "Wellll life was hard back then, it was all about survival, people were not conscious of the concept of exploitation of animals and of natural resources in general back then. Really? Well, why then is it so unthinkable to apply the same loose, sloppy moral standards to the early interactions of Western Europeans with the native populations? After all, life was hard, it was all about survival and "racial discrimination" wasn't even a thing (or even an expression) back then, people were not brought up to even ponder this concept back then… But no, after any new fact on the interaction of early European settlers with the Native peoples was introduced, it was then meticulously pointed out (by all kinds of “expert” commentary that followed) how unethical the behaviour of the settlers towards the natives was, so as not to leave space for any doubt-- what early Europeans did to native American PEOPLE was wrong, bad, unethical. But with regards to the issue of exploitation of animals? Any denouncements, comments, anything to suggest a less-than-neutral attitute? None, rien, nada! Actually, the instances of animal exploitation were actively veiled, diverted ones attention from, mollified.
Even worse, the blatant facts of terrorizing treatment of animals were flipped on their head and presented as an issue of, again, (-the much-rewarded modern topic of—) HUMAN racial discrimination!) Yes, that’s right! Believe it or not! Let me give you one outrageous example:
When white people murdered hundreds of thousands of bison for no reason (simply to make sure that the natives don't get to eat these bison) leaving whole fields of dead bodies of these animals to rot in the sun, it was presented as only a bad thing to do TO NATIVE PEOPLE and not to the animals themselves! As if these animals were not living things but just objects that were rendered useless by one group of people so as to cause inconveniences to another group, and only for that reason was it "mean" and "unfair" to do such a thing! (To be sure, many native peoples themselves also had a tradition of killing the whole heard of bison for no reason, just because they had a belief that if they don't, the remaining animals would go on and "inform" the other herds of danger. And in this case, this tradition wasn't even mentioned as anything bad at all, just an interesting, peculiar quirk of culture, in fact, the site of mass-murder of bison by native Americans the Animalso called "Head-Smashed in Buffalo Jump is declared a national heritage site, celebrating Native American culture).
Why is it that in year 2017 when this documentary was created, all the care is taken to denounce the actions of the English and the French and to point out the exploitation of Native PEOPLE by Western European PEOPLE, and yet no mention is made of unnecessary mass massacre(!) of animals as anything terrible, despicable, (méprisable, undigne etc)?

I have a very good guess as to why! And the answer is rather simple!

Because IT IS BAD FOR BUSINESS if people start feeling sorry for animals!! While a country profits when different groups of PEOPLE live in peace (hence the obsession with denouncing interracial conflicts in modern historical documentaries and everywhere else in the media), no one will make money if people start feeling sorry for animals and, as a result, stop purchasing and consuming meat and fish and eggs the production of which is a big part of economy! Or if people start resenting cutting out forests to accommodate unnecessarily expanding population, and hence stop supporting the logging and construction industry (Which is, by the way, a whole new topic of its own: why so many politicians mindlessly repeat that the population needs to grow? Is it because having virgin forests supplying the country with fresh air and clean water is a bad thing, and having a dirty town or city in their place instead, a good one? China, also a very big country in terms of territory had a really "healthy" human population growth for a while, and what did it result in, in the end? A strain on resources and an emergency state where families literally have to be restricted to just having one child. Is this the end result that Canadian politicians aspire to when they repeat that the population in Canada needs to grow-grow-grow(?!) -- and yes, maybe it "has to do it" slowly, but still, inevitably GROW! ANYWAY you get the point!)
Now back to why it is just not good for political or economical (money-making) purses to suggest that a modern Canadian citizen be in any way sorry for animals:

You see, nowadays, animals are exploited more than ever (think commercial factory farming), more money than ever is made off the suffering of these perfectly living and feeling beings. Tons of wild fish are caught and sold, commercial factory farming is huge, and all that brings a lot of money to the government; it is massively profitable, "good for the consumerist economy", so the government that produces these documentaries is not interested to present animals as victims of exploitation alongside of and even much more so, than humans ever have been! (or even to just present animals as living beings at all for that matter!). In these documentaries, it will do anything to brush past the fact of horrendous animal exploitation, and even turn it, if at all possible, to serve the profitable agenda of HUMAN to HUMAN relationships and discrimination, completely ignoring the obvious fact that animals are actually living and feeling beings too, no matter how crazy this political ploy of ignoring animal suffering looks to anyone who has any remnants of critical thinking and morals left in them.
Canada (just like almost any other country, except that most other countries don't brag about it so much--) is only peaceful, kind and humane, all against violence and bla-bla-bla-all-this-nice-stuff in affairs and places where it is profitable: Getting groups of people to work together without interracial conflicts, hence increasing work productivity and yields is good for economy) and not in others, where being non-violent and non-exploitative just REALLY doesn't pay: for example discouraging inhumane factory farming and massive fishing, cutting out forests to accommodate ever-increasing populations (--of potential voters).
Politicians, whose sole career and income ($$$) depend on being elected are smart to hush the issue of animal exploitation, because really, how many people are going to vote for someone whose time in office will be associated with rising prices on meat, eggs and other animal produce! (You see, keeping animals in more-or-less livable conditions is more expensive!) --Not too many, and not as many as would vote for someone who will promise to make the price of animal produce to go DOWN EVEN MORE (resulting in even more atrocious animal living conditions and merciless exploitation but who cares).
So Trudeau with his pretentious speech of "peace and love" at the beginning of the documentary was a typical example of politicians, nearly all of whom, while portraying themselves as kind-hearted angels working to spread peace and love and end of suffering in any shape or form, who then, without blinking an eye, ignore the real, blatant suffering and pain staring them in the face, in the form of the massacre of wildlife, murder of innocent calfs, throwing chickens live in boiling water, the plea of all factory farm animals, all that taking place routinely, all over the country, every day. But no, while making sure to end every sentence with a piece and love message, they completely turn their head away from this pain of living creatures, and actively work to make sure everyone else does the same! Diverting people's attention by flooding the discussion with only the profitable, agenda of racial discrimination, so that there is no place in anyone's mind for real, torturous, bloody, murderous, cruel and uncomfortable issues taking place every single second of our lives and right next to us, is just one insidious, stealthy tactic of theirs. A

ll that is like sitting on a yoga mat, doing a peace-and-love meditation, while a crowd is screaming and being slowly, torturously murdered in your own backyard, every day, and instead of even just looking out once to see if anyone needs any help at all, one just turns the peaceful music a little bit louder so as to obstruct and choke the annoying, disagreeable noise coming from the tortured souls! every day... And all this is really happening right at your side, and non-stop even as you are reading this. (In fact, 50,000 chickens will be killed in North America alone by the time you're finished reading this sentence)

Watch my Youtube video on this!

Endnote: If any of you at this point feel like starting the online equivalent of screaming and brandishing fists saying something to the effect of Russiadoesittoo (as if just by being born anywhere outside of Canada means a person has henceforth no right, ever, to express anything less than admiration and silent gratitude towards this country, and when it comes to criticism, is restricted on the other hand, to their country of origin), I will mention that I do denounce animal maltreatment and cruelty towards animals wherever it takes place. It's just that you probably wouldn't see or know of it, as when I see it happening on the Russian-speaking territory, I then do the criticism of it in Russian, and often on other platforms where there is a bigger Russian-speaking audience.

A case for veganism

The commandment of the New Testament "Thou shalt not kill" does not specify "Thou shalt not kill a fellow human" or "You shalt not kill people!" It just says don't kill, period. Don't kill humans OR animals! Back in the time when Jesus lived, people did not eat meat every single day 3 times a day, like people do now. Even killing a female chicken was considered a huge luxury that only the highest classes could afford (because it is an egg laying bird and killing it for meat was considered a waste). It was only for big holidays that people could kill their livestock. If Jesus lived in the modern world and saw how most people are gorging on meat 3 times a day all year round and exploit the planet and animals for that, it would certainly be considered by him a sinful gluttonous lifestyle. In the Orthodox tradition 200 of the 350 days a year are meatless fasting days (on some of these days dairy and eggs are still permitted). Exploiting animals like most western (American and European) civilizations do is certainly gluttonous, if not murderous.

Does "Rape Culture" really exist?

What do I think of "rape culture" and how to stop it? Well, stop getting drunk and intoxicated in other ways and then the unwanted hook-ups and "rapes" will dramatically decrease to almost zero, because, statistically, it is 99% in this kind of environment, under intoxication, that rape happens (and not a random pervert jumping out of the bush while you are walking your dog), and without generous loads of alcohol and/or other mind-altering substances taking place first, no woman in her right, sober mind would spread her legs to a guy who she doesn't really like and/or is not planning to have a relationship with or would pass out and be raped while not even being aware of it. (I'm not blaming the victim, but if we are looking for a real solution and not just trying to assign blame, that would be the first and most effective one!) And men too, while intoxicated, lose self-control and become more driven and subject to their instincts, just because of how alcohol directly affects the brain causing a loss of inhibition. It is alcohol and other mind-altering substances that are primary causes of this rape culture, not lack of education or anything else! But of course, the alcohol companies will do anything to divert the attention from the real issue and cause, and try to prove to the policy-makers that it is anything but the intoxication (and the inherent loss of inhibition and deterioration of the decision-making abilities that follow) that cause unwanted sex. They will provide all kinds of straw-men like "lack of education and understanding around consent", "lack of awareness" ( what kind of "understanding" and "awareness" are you talking about, when a person is intoxicated out of their mind?) all while encouraging the bar- and pub-culture, portraying alcohol as nothing but a mild social lubricant and bars and pubs as just benign, friendly places to socialize) in place of the one and most obvious leading cause, which is their encouragement of people to get intoxicated and lose control!
